A Chimta is a percussion instrument played in traditional South Asian music and Punjabi Bhangra music. You may still see these being used as fire tongs, for cooking chapatti bread. In its original form it is found without the added jingles and with sharply pointed ends. Our chimta consists of a long, flat folded piece of Stainless Steel, with pairs of small stainless jingles. To play clap the steel tongs together with one hand, while the other hand manipulates the ring against the tongs.
