Blemished A rosewood (or similar hardwood) dayan is paired with a heavy professional nickel plated copper bayan. Both bayan and dayan have goatskin heads and are strap tuned. Set includes cushions, covers, tuning hammer, and nylon case. Indian tabla designer, Mukta Das, is well established as one of India's best tabla makers and his instruments are sold throughout the world. Mukta has 11 generations of tabla makers in his family and trained under the great tabla making guru, Nariyan Das, for fifteen years.

Mukta obtains his camel hide straps and his goat hides directly from the Kalighat temple, a holy site for all Hindu's. His relatives carve the dayan shells from trees in Mukta's home village of Ranaghat Nadiya. Mukta owns and works out of "Rhythm Tabla Shop" in South West Kolkata in West Bengal.

Scratch & Dent Savings!!! Product codes ending in "-2" are Blemished. They are New and Unused with Superficial blemishes that may include, blisters in the finish, scratches, dents, stains, discoloration, rust or pitting on metals, imperfect glazes, non-structural repairs such as putty in nail holes, or other surface marks. The irregularity does not affect the playability or sound quality of the instrument. These are a good value.
